The Experiment: a lab escape room for friends, couples and colleagues

The Experiment is an escape room in Riga for players aged 16 and up, set in a laboratory whose scientist has disappeared. It was made for teams who like hunting for clues and solving puzzles. Two people are enough to play, and a team can have up to five.

• Groups of friends. Five people, one evening and one shared question: what happened in that lab?

• Colleagues. Teamwork sits at the centre of the story: some secrets only open up when everyone works together.
• Parents with teenagers aged 16 and over. An hour where the adult has no head start, because nobody needs to know any chemistry.

Your role: young researchers in a missing scientist's lab

A mysterious experiment was running in the laboratory, and then something suddenly went wrong. The scientist, who was working on an important discovery, has vanished. What is left are mysterious notes, strange devices and hidden clues.

You play a team of young researchers determined to find out what really happened. You explore the lab, look for hidden clues, solve puzzles and work out the secret behind the experiment. The further you get, the clearer it becomes that the experiment is not quite what it first seemed. And then something unexpected happens. What exactly is better discovered inside.

You do not need any special knowledge of chemistry or science. Attention, quick thinking, logic and the ability to work as a team matter far more. Many things in the lab are harder to reach than they look, so talk out loud and tell the others what you have found.

• Time: 60 minutes.
• Team: 2 to 5 players.
• Age: 16 and up.
• Difficulty: medium.

If this is your first escape game, the setup is simple. You have one hour, one room and one goal: uncover the lab's secret, complete the experiment and find your way out.

The Experiment is at Jeruzalemes iela 2/4 - 18, Riga. Two other quest rooms share the address:

• Time Machine: another laboratory, this time with a broken time machine and mechanical puzzles, from age 6.
• Captain's Cabin: the legend of a lost sea captain and his cursed cabin, from age 6.

All three rooms together hold up to 15 people at the same time. If your group has between 6 and 15 people, split into teams and play in parallel. Afterwards there is plenty to compare, since each team was inside a different story.
