Who the Harry Potter escape room is for
The Harry Potter escape room in Riga gives a team of 2 to 5 people one hour in the wizarding world. Players need to be at least 7, and the story of a mysterious invitation to a school of magic is easy to follow for a second-grader and for their parents alike.
The room works well for:
- Kids and teenagers who have read the books or watched the films. Nobody has to explain anything to them. The word Hogwarts is enough.
- Children's birthdays from age 7. For a two-hour plan and tips on splitting children into teams, read our guide to a children's birthday party in Riga.
- Families where parents and children play on the same team and solve the magical puzzles together.
- Groups of adults who grew up with these stories and would like to step back into them for an hour.
A test at the school of magic: how the hour goes
The story opens with a mysterious invitation to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To prove your abilities, your team has to pass a test. You are not watching the test from the side; you are the ones taking it.
The room is filled with magical props and secrets. Some elements are interactive, so the objects around you are more than set dressing. You will solve magical puzzles, find hidden artifacts and use magical objects to open the path to freedom.
The game lasts 60 minutes and the difficulty is medium. A team can have two to five players. If your group is bigger, a second team can play next door in Sherlock Holmes, which takes up to seven players and also starts at age 7.
If this is your child's first escape game, a story they already know is a gentle start: they recognise the world before they have solved a single puzzle.
Where to find it, and the other rooms at the same address
The address is Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica bulvāris 14, Riga. Four escape rooms share it. Besides Harry Potter, there is Sherlock Holmes from age 7 with space for up to seven players, the spy quest James Bond and the Bank Heist from age 10, and Journey to Soviet Riga from age 14.
When more children come to a party than one room can hold, Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes together take 12 players aged 7 and up. All four rooms hold up to 22 people at once, which also suits a school class or a group of colleagues. Book three or more rooms at the same time and you get an individual offer; details are on the corporate events page.
